Quixey Acquires Kite to Help Build Functional Search™

Today we’re very excited to announce the acqui-hire of the Kite team, Phillip Nelson and Jason Hreha to Quixey! Phil is a former co-founder of several startups, including Tokbox and SnapTickets, and Jason has a deep background in neuroscience. Both fundamentally believe in the power of groups of developers over software monopolies, and that’s where Quixey’s vision aligns directly with theirs.

Kite.io was a bootstrapped startup tackling the same problem we’ve been working on for years: how to surface the information and functionality locked deep within apps and allow users to search find it immediately. By bringing Phil and Jason into the Quixey family, we’re taking another big step toward building the evolution of our revolutionary Functional Search™ technology.

“Phil and Jason have a unique understanding of the best ways for users to discover and leverage valuable information,” said Guru Gowrappan, COO of Quixey. “We’re thrilled to have them join our team and bring their insight to the tough problem we’ve been working on – helping users find the right functionality within apps, and helping developers find the right users.”

The Kite team has already hit the ground running at Quixey, and as we keep growing our employee base at such a quick rate, we couldn’t be more excited that we’ve continued to find terrific talent in all areas of the industry. Changing search for the better is a huge undertaking, and we’re lucky to have Phil and Jason on board to help us get there.
